The summer we never wanted to end
It's been a few weeks since our summer vacation to Italy, and we still can't stop talking about it! From the rolling hills of Tuscany to the beautiful beaches, there was so much to do and see. We spent over a week exploring cities like Florence, Pisa and Siena - each with its own unique charm.
We also made sure to take some time out for relaxation too; spending an entire day at the beach soaking up some sun (and cooling off in between!). And of course we had plenty of opportunities try all kinds of delicious local food - from pizza margherita in Naples right through gelato everywhere else!
All in all it was an amazing trip that won't soon be forgotten. So if you're looking for your next holiday destination why not consider Italy? You won't regret it!
Firenze
Florence, Italy was truly an amazing experience. From the beautiful architecture to the delicious food - we were able to take in all of what this incredible city has to offer.
Our first stop was at Piazza della Signoria which is one of Florence’s most iconic squares that features works from some of Italy’s greatest artists like Michelangelo and Donatello. We then headed over to Palazzo Vecchio which is a large palace that overlooks the square with its impressive tower reaching up into sky. After exploring these two sites, we moved on towards Ponte Vecchio – an old bridge filled with shops selling jewelry, artworks and souvenirs as well as stunning views overlooking Arno River below us.
We also took time out for lunch where we got our hands on some delicious Italian cuisine before heading off again towards Uffizi Gallery – one of Europe's oldest art museums housing masterpieces from Renaissance masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael or Caravaggio just name few.. Our last stop for today was Duomo di Firenze (Florence Cathedral) which stands tall above everything else around it making us feel so small yet so humbled by its beauty at same time.
All-in-all ,we had an amazing day experiencing all that Florence has to offer. It's definitely worth checking out if you ever get chance!
Siena
We had the opportunity to explore all of the wonderful sights this beautiful city has to offer.
First, we visited the Piazza del Campo, one of Italy's most iconic squares. It is surrounded by medieval buildings and filled with vibrant energy from locals and tourists alike. From there, we made our way to Torre del Mangia where we enjoyed stunning views of Siena from atop its bell tower.
Next up was a visit to Santa Maria della Scala Museum which houses some incredible works of art as well as artifacts that tell stories about Siena’s past life and culture. Afterward, it was time for lunch at Ristorante Il Palio – delicious food served in a cozy atmosphere!
Finally, no trip would be complete without seeing Duomo di Siena – an impressive cathedral built between 1215-1263 that stands out among other churches due its intricate marble designs on both interior and exterior walls; truly breathtaking!
All in all it was a fantastic day spent exploring one of Italy's most picturesque cities - definitely worth every minute spent here.
Pisa
We spent another day in Pisa and visited all the amazing sightseeing spots.
We started off by visiting the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, which is one of Italy's most iconic landmarks. It was amazing to see it in person and take some photos with it! After that we went to explore other attractions like The Cathedral Square, where we saw a number of beautiful churches as well as historical monuments such as Palazzo dei Cavalieri di Santo Stefano and Museo delle Sinopie.
Next up on our list were two more must-see sights: The Baptistery and Camposanto Monumentale cemetery. Both these places were incredibly impressive with their intricate architecture, sculptures, frescoes and tombs – truly breathtaking! We also took a stroll along Lungarni Streets before heading back for lunch at one of Pisa's many restaurants serving delicious Italian cuisine.
To end our perfect day out in this wonderful city we decided to go on a boat ride around its canals – what an experience that was! From there we had stunning views over the Arno River while enjoying some tasty gelato ice cream under a warm Tuscan sun…it doesn't get much better than that really does it?
The countryside
We spent the other glorious days exploring and enjoying all that the beautiful Tuscan countryside has to offer. From rolling hills covered in vineyards and olive groves, to quaint villages with cobbled streets and ancient churches - there's something for everyone here!
One day we started off by visiting a local winery where we sampled some of their delicious wines while learning about their production process. Afterward, we stopped at an old farmhouse for lunch where they served up traditional dishes made with fresh ingredients straight from their garden. It was truly heavenly!
Next on our agenda was a visit to one of Tuscany’s most famous sights – San Gimignano. We climbed up its towers for breathtaking views over the surrounding landscape before taking time out for gelato in Piazza della Cisterna below. What better way is there to end such an amazing day?
